Better Made in Britain

When many traditionally manufacturing companies in the UK have made a decision to outsource their manufacturing to China, India or the Philippines, one Lancashire based company is reaping the benefits of keeping the manufacturing firmly based in Britain.

Tapeswitch ltd, Britain’s leading manufacturer of pressure-sensitive products, safety light curtains and accessories is seeing a surge in sales enquiries for its range of “Made in Britain” products as companies across the UK and Europe become disillusioned with distance purchasing. As commodity, energy, transport and wage costs continue to rise across the globe, then the cost differential between nations manufacturing costs continues to narrow and Tapeswitch is benefiting from this continued shift back to localised manufacturing.
Buying from a UK company that still manufactures in Britain has significant benefits for the customer including fast turnaround, fast delivery, smaller order values, non-standard product solutions and also an actual, as well as a perceived higher manufacturing quality. Often sourcing products from the Far East has other additional problems associated with an elongated supply chain, not least the ownership of responsibility and the ability to have things corrected when products fail.

Karen Keighley of Tapeswitch commented “many of our customers have very unique problems requiring creative solutions and they need to speak to a company who can respond quickly with a workable solution and just as importantly, be able to manufacture that solution in a reasonable time frame. Our customers would not except the lead times created by manufacturing in the Far East or the minimum order values required to get the project into production.”

Tapeswitch’s reputation has been built by providing pressure-sensitive products with durability and reliability to meet the customer’s specific criteria, and deliver a greater return on investment due to a high quality build and increased longevity.
